Avis Brantner: Many education systems fail because most participants in the systems do not value it. Expectations are far too low for students to perform better, parental input is sparse in many instances and no one wants to pay for something they will see little results from in the short run. Male education workers are needed as much as the input of fathers in the lives of their offspring. How rare is that today?
