what are religious symbols for roman catholic weddings?

Iris Shawcroft: The white dress is not a religious requirement and has no symbolic meaning in the Church. If both parties are Catholic, the wedding is part of a Mass, so you could use the Eucharist as one of your symbols.

Randolph Lozoya: does anyone know any websites i can look at to find reliable information on consummation?

Manual Burtis: I never noticed that my Roman Catholic wedding was much different than any other wedding I went to. However, during the wedding mass, we receive the Eucharist. Also there are lit candles. And depending on the priest, you may find that only traditional hymns may be sung. One other thing, both parties must be baptized to get married, unless there is special permission granted from the bishop. There are premarital preparation classes. I would suggest contacting a parish priest or lay minister to get their response to what sets a R.C. wedding apart from the rest. Good luck with your project....Show more

Gregory D! ilg: In very traditional weddings the bride's bouquet, or at least a part of it, is left at the altar for the Virgin Mary as an offering for a good marriage. Most Catholic weddings are performed within the Celebration of the Eucharist, so you have the whole communion symbolism, and the bride and groom sometimes share the communion wine from one cup.The father giving the bride 'away' is considered symbolic of God the Father giving The Bride (the Church) to The Holy Groom (Jesus). These are Very Old symbols that are not commonly thought of in modern times, but they do still exist....Show more
