Ervin Laeger: I agree with the others. As a teacher, I know how unbelievably disruptive it is when a parent brings a child in very late. It takes the kids attention away from what they are focusing on (hopefully language immersion) and puts it onto your child and you. My question to you is this, if the total time that your child will be in the program per week is 6-7 hours a week instead of the full time, then why are you even sending them? 5 kids with two teachers? I've never seen that with the exception of a special education classrooms or in infant "classrooms"....Show more
Hwa Waterford: Just forget the part about bringing her in late. That part might be a distraction from the point of my post. My point is about the fee and if it is reasonable. I already know the daily routine. They have free play until 9:30 am...so I was told by a teacher that I could bring her in any time up till just prior to circle time. Sorry I didn't make that clear!
Paul M! aymi: This doesn't sound unreasonable to me. The Spanish program obviously should have a premium. It would be a good idea to check with the program about bringing the child in late, preschools tend to be more regimented than daycares, because the administrators are trying to get lessons completed.
Shaun Rapkowicz: That's not unreasonable for what you are getting. The reason the cost is high, is because there are two teachers. They need to make some kind of profit in order to make their expenses and make some money. I've looked at what I would have to charge if I had my own place for Preschool, and it's similar. Being they are teaching Spanish, they need a wonderful ratio like that. A couple of comments that my be helpful-I would ask about bringing her in late to school everyday. If you have a schedule problem and it can't be helped, that's one thing. But if you just don't feel like getting her there that early, it could be a problem. Check with the teachers ! and see what the morning schedule is like. Tell them what you! are thinking of doing. If they have a specific morning schedule with substantial content, such as calendar and weather, you don't want your daughter to miss that part of the class. If they will just be playing for the first half hour until everyone gets there, then no big deal. You bringing the lunch helps the teachers because otherwise they have to make a kitchen with food requirements and be checked by the state. Snacks are easy to follow the rules, but lunch is another thing. Good Luck! It sound like you have found a good program that will meet your needs....Show more
