Study abroad and exchange programs?

Marylee Lucks: Study abroad generally means you are there for 6 months. Exchange program means you are there for longer then 6 months. Usually to get your degree or just for a year or two. Study abroad programs are a lot easier to get into then exchange programs. They require a lower GPA and usually cost less. You cannot and I suggest you don't arrange your own "program". You are basically saying you want to study on your own. This will not only be more expensive but your credits will not transfer back.
