Landscaping pros and cons?

Norine Lomonte: Pros: 1. You will get fit and build some muscle. "Ripped?" I don't know about that unless you are doing a variety of different heavy jobs. 2. You will also develop some good work habits and an understanding of what it means to work hard which will help you when you move fully into adulthood. 3. If you don't stay in the landscaping field, you will still have picked up some knowledge and skills that will save you money and hassle if you need to do some landscape work for yourself in the future. Cons: 1. There will be days when you are totally worn out by work and wonder if it is worth it. This may cut into your social life a bit. If you don't cut back on your social life when you are tired, you may end up with work problems the next day. 2. In most landscape work, the starting pay is not particularly great considering the work and getting a raise is not easy -- if it is possible at all. IF you can learn quickly, show responsibility (by being on ti! me, not slacking off, not screwing up and by doing what you can without instruction), and act maturely with customers and co-workers, you stand a CHANCE of getting a raise. But if your boss is not fair or if he is short on money to pay you better, don't bet on it -- at least the first year....Show more
