Clay Lipira: Actually, to be technical, socialized medicine is not like the US or Canada. With socialized medicine the governm! ent provides the medical care (this happens in Great Brittan). The doctors must work for the government. What Canada has is a single payer system. This is a little different. Doctors can work for themselves, but the government pays for it. It is sort of like the government is the health insurance but does not provide the actual care. Though I have never heard the term used, this would be socialized health insurance.
