Abby Herwood: UGI Bleed- esophageal varices, complicated by DTs, respiratory failure, and clotting problems from advanced liver diseasePneumonia with respiratory failure. history of COPDSepsis- 96 year old male from nursing home. sacral decubitus ulcer (bedsore) hypotensive, hypothermic- impending respiratory failure. history of CHFDiabetic Ketoacidosis. These would be your typical patients from a medical ICU. a surgical ICU would have your post-op hearts, craniotomies, complex abdominal surgeries like whipples, tracheostomies, lung surgeries.CCU- coronary care unit has patients with chest pain that are being ruled in/out for MI, severe CHF, etc. in general, CCU has the healthiest patients as in they are walking and talking.hope thats what you were looking for....Show more
